Designing A Mountain Home in Northern Arizona

Designing the interiors of this home was an enjoyable but challenging endeavor. Our comprehensive renovations included a complete kitchen overhaul. The original kitchen sink, oddly, was a corner sink – this meant that when the faucet was turned to the center of the sink, it sprayed onto the floor.  Additionally, the original layout was a peninsula so we needed to redesign the kitchen to make way for a kitchen island. Therefore, a completely new kitchen configuration was in order which included new cabinets, countertops & backsplash, new appliances (including a 48″ Range w/double ovens), lighting, faucet, fixtures, hardware & more.

Another odd element of the home was that there was a toilet room located in the garage; we were able to reconfigure the space and now there is an actual Powder Room inside the home (see the bottom of this page for before and after pictures).  New LVT vinyl flooring was installed throughout the home as well as new interior paint, rejuvenated bathroom cabinets, upgraded appliances, fixtures, and more.

Departing from the expected traditional mountain home aesthetics like bear skin rugs and antler decorations, we cultivated a warm and inviting atmosphere. Also of importance, was departing from the look of homes one would find in the Phoenix area (white cabinets, grey tones, modern-look, etc).  Infused with copper accents, unique antiques, and original artwork, the space relays a distinct character with warm and cozy vibes throughout. The Antique Hutch which was found in a local antique store, was at one time, located in the Town’s original hardware store; approximate age of the hutch is 1920s-1930s.  Notably, all of these updates were achieved while adhering to a budget-conscious approach.

At this bottom of this page are the Before and After Pictures of the project..

Powder Room Before and After:

Originally, there was no powder room inside the house. There was, however, a toilet room & an adjacent sink located inside of the garage. Therefore, an interior closet was removed, walls reconfigured and the garage interior door was moved in order to incorporate an interior powder room. Pictures below:

Master Bath Before and After:

The master bath was enlarged so it could accommodate a double sink. Additionally, the shower drywalled walls were opened up and replaced with glass.  Other updates included: new vanity, shower tile, tile flooring, wall tile, paint, faucets & fixtures, hardware, mirror & lighting. Pictures below:

Hall Bath Before and After:

Updates included: New Quartz Countertop, new flooring, new lighting, new faucet, new paint and new hardware.  The vanity was custom painted in a matte black and the mirror was also hand-painted. Pictures below:

Antique Hutch Before and After:

This project included removing the top vertical shelves, sanding, restaining and painting the interior a matte black. Pictures below:

Antique Bench Before and After:

This antique bench is C. 1940s and seemed to have the original cushion; it was basically made out of sheets of paper. The project included sanding, restaining with a mixed solution of stain & paint and reupholstered with a new cushion and new fabric. Pictures below:
